What do you enjoy most about serving the community: What I enjoy most is the people. Ashburton has such an interesting mix of residents, with different backgrounds, interests, ideas and ambitions. Everyone has their own perspective on what makes a great town, but there is a real sense of community and a shared desire to see Ashburton thrive. I particularly enjoy seeing people come together to support local events, businesses, community groups and one another. It is rewarding to play a small part in helping Ashburton remain a vibrant, welcoming and unique place for both residents and visitors.
What is one issue that you would encourage residents to get involved in:I would encourage everyone to take a little more ownership of the town and look out for one another. Something as simple as picking up litter, keeping an eye out for an elderly or vulnerable neighbour, helping someone who may be struggling, or volunteering a little time can make a real difference. We all have a part to play in keeping Ashburton clean, welcoming and a great place to live. A small amount of effort from lots of people can have a much bigger impact than we might realise.
A fun fact about yourself: Jonny Wilkinson was lucky enough to be my neighbour when we lived in Toulon.
