Ashburton Food Festival celebrates 15 years
Ashburton was once again filled with the sights, sounds and smells of local food and drink as the Ashburton Food Festival returned to the town on Saturday 12 September.
Welcome to Ashburton
Nestled on the southern edge of Dartmoor National Park, Ashburton is a vibrant historic market town where centuries of heritage sit comfortably alongside a thriving modern community.
As one of Devon's four ancient Stannary Towns, Ashburton has a rich history shaped by its medieval tin-mining past and enduring traditions, including the historic office of the Portreeve, which dates back to Saxon times. Widely regarded as the antiques capital of Devon, the town is home to an excellent range of independent shops, galleries and artisan businesses. Visitors can also enjoy a thriving food scene, with independent cafés, pubs and restaurants showcasing local produce. Ashburton is an ideal base for walking, cycling, wild swimming and exploring the stunning landscapes of Dartmoor. Combining heritage, independent character, natural beauty and a strong sense of community, Ashburton is a place that warmly welcomes both visitors and residents alike.

A Wonderful Celebration at the Mayor’s Inauguration Festival
Ashburton came together on Saturday 25 July to celebrate the inauguration of Councillor Lucy Wood as the new Mayor of Ashburton, with a free community festival held at Cléder Place beside the River Ashburn.
