Councillor

John Nutley

Occupation: Retired Joiner and Carpenter / Contracts Manager

Council Role: I have been a Town Councillor for many years, I am also a Teignbridge District Councillor, a Member of the Dartmoor National Park Authority for 13 years, I am on the Council of Governors for the Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust, a committee member of the Exe Estuary Management Partnership and Chair of the Hospital League of Friends.

What do you enjoy most about serving the community: My favourite part of the role is being able to help local organisations and charities by giving a little funding to help with their finances ensuring they are able to continue the good work they all do.  I also enjoy working with fellow Councillors in trying to resolve any issues and problems that come before us from within the council and from our residents and businesses.

What is one issue that you would encourage residents to get involved in: To become volunteers in helping to keep our town clean and tidy and to report anyone allowing their dogs to foul on our streets and in our recreation areas.

A fun fact about yourself: When I was Master Bailiff, I once dressed up as an Oompa Loompa from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and along with the Portreeve we dressed up as Mary Poppins and Burt which was great fun! I also love doing my flower garden and have won competitions in the past.
