The meeting, chaired by the Mayor of Ashburton, Councillor Lucy Wood, provided a forum for residents to hear about local issues, raise concerns and contribute ideas for the future of the town.
Following approval of the minutes from the previous Annual Town Meeting, attendees took part in a “Chance to Chat” session with Town Councillors. This gave residents the opportunity to ask questions about the role of councillors, discuss local priorities and learn more about the issues that motivated them to serve the community.
A portion of the evening was dedicated to discussing matters of importance to Ashburton. Residents were invited to share their views on local issues and suggest topics that they felt should be considered by the Town Council in the future. The meeting generated valuable discussion and highlighted the importance of community involvement in local decision-making.
The Annual Town Meeting is one of the few occasions each year when all local electors are invited to come together specifically to discuss issues affecting the parish. It provides a direct link between residents and their elected representatives, ensuring that local voices continue to play a key role in shaping the future of the town.
Ashburton Town Council would like to thank everyone who attended and contributed to the discussions. The Council values the feedback and ideas received from residents and looks forward to continuing to work together for the benefit of the community.
